Engagement Partyedding music

An engagement party can be anything from a casual backyard barbeque to a formal cocktail or dinner party. This usually happens any time from 6 months before the wedding ceremony.
If you’re going for a formal affair, then having live harp provide the background music will really add a touch of class. Harp music appeals to most people and is subtle, allowing guests to chat without having to compete with loud or busy music.
Engagement Party Ettiquette
Of course there are no hard and fast rules, but rather a tradition that you may decide or not decide to follow:
- The bride’s parents traditionally host the affair
- Guests are not asked to bring gifts, as this happens at the wedding
- The guest list is usually the same as that of the wedding list
- The first invitation to toast the bride-and-groom-to-be is made by the bride’s father (the couple don’t usually drink to this toast)
- The groom-to-be then makes a short speech and proposes a toast to his bride-to-be and her family
- After this, the guests propose toasts to the couple and their parents
